Part of the rebuilding of the area after a fire in 1854. Outline plan by John Dobson, the buildings by William Parnell. Princes Buildings dates from c1863. Grade II listed.
Now a mixture of shops, offices and flats.
Everything here is now dramatically loomed over by the New Tyne Bridge.
