The Llanelli Community Heritage blue plaque records that Llanelly Copper Works, established in 1805,
were the third largest copper smelting works in the world during the mid 19th century.
The town name is now spelt Llanelli in Welsh and English. The spelling Llanelly was used in English until 1966.
It was changed following a local public campaign.
