The buildings on the west side of the street were designed by two assistants of Richard Grainger, John Wardle and George Walker. Nos. 33-41, dated c1835, was built for the Bank of England, hence the grand columned front; nos. 43-51 are plainer and have been rebuilt behind the front. Both grade II* listed.
