The Market Cross at Swaffham
This circular structure, at Swaffham Market Place, is also known as the Butter cross. It has eight unfluted Roman Doric columns set on a triple-stepped plinth; two leaded steps lead into half-round dome upon which is statue of Ceres (TF8108 : Ceres Statue, Swaffham Market Cross).
Dating from 1781-83, it is a grade I listed building (English Heritage Building ID: 460635 LinkExternal link British Listed Buildings) and a scheduled ancient monument.
