The building on the corner of Market Place and St Petersgate was erected for the Bank of Stockport to designs of T. A. Allen in 1868. It was taken over by the Manchester County Bank in 1871, which was subsequently taken over by the National Westminster Bank. It was converted to a in the late 20th or early 21st century into a Yate's Wine Lodge and subsequently the Bambooza nightclub SJ8990 : The Bambooza.

In 2014 the ground floor and basement were let to local pub operator Yacoub Naber who has re-opened it as sports bar and live music venue called Bank Chambers Live.
