Not to be outdone by the display of yellow bikes in the neighbouring village of Melmerby (see NY6137 : The yellow bikes of Melmerby (1)), the inhabitants of Langwathby have set about the task of adorning their village with at least 25 yellow bikes in anticipation of the Aviva Tour of Britain 2015. Stage 5 of the Tour on September 10th runs from Prudhoe in the Tyne valley to the finish on Hartside Pass.

A further six yellow bikes are distributed along the A686 between the two villages.

A lot of imagination and ingenuity has gone into the design of these items, and this decorated bike at the western end of the village is a particularly fine example.
