The Martyr's Grave
The Martyr's Grave
The grave of William Adam, a servant at Upper Wellwood Farm, who was shot here by Captain Dalzeal in 1685. William was waiting for his sweetheart when the soldiers found him. As they did not like his answers to their questions and he had a Bible in his possession, they shot him as a Covenanter and buried him on the spot (source: "The River Ayr Way", by Dane Love).
