Smeaton's Tower
Smeaton's Tower
Smeaton's Tower was originally the top section of the third Eddystone Lighthouse, built by John Smeaton and completed in 1859. When the lighthouse was replaced in 1882, the top section was moved here to Plymouth Hoe (the base was so well secured to the rock that it was left as a stub) - see SX3833 : Eddystone lighthouse. Grade I listed - see LinkExternal link.

The shelter below it was built at around the same time as the arrival of the lighthouse and is grade II listed - see LinkExternal link.
