Thatched cottage at Knarr Farm, Thorney Toll

This tiny 18th century thatched cottage is now dwarfed and partially hidden by the adjacent DALMARK grain dryer and associated stores at Knarr Farm near Thorney Toll. See Link and Link.
Believed to have been built as a farm workers cottage soon after this area of fenland was drained for agriculture and it is possibly the oldest remaining building between Guyhirn and Thorney.
The cottage has a kitchen at the rear and a living room with a fireplace at the front. A narrow stair case leads to bedroom(s) upstairs. The single storey section contains a toilet and an adjoining room with outside access, possibly an old wash house? It has never had an electricity supply and lighting was provided by bottled gas years ago.
It may be known as Canary Cottage according to a document produced by Peterborough City Council ~ List of Buildings of Local Importance in Peterborough.
The last people to live in this cottage were Ken and Thelma Wright who left in 1965 and it has been unoccupied for the last 50 years.
In 2019 it became a Grade II listed building see LinkExternal link
