The most significant natural danger to life on Earth comes from asteroids and comets.

The Spaceguard Centre is a working observatory, and the main source of information about near Earth objects in the UK. It was opened by Sir Patrick Moore, CBE, FRAS, on 29 September 2001.

The mirrored ball is in the centre of a stone circle erected in memory of Princess Diana.
