Skyspace, Seldom Seen structure - Houghton Hall
The ‘Skyspace’ Seldom Seen, 2004 is a wooden viewing chamber rising into the canopy of surrounding trees, lit from inside with a square aperture open to the sky and bench seats all around the inside for visitors who look through the hole in the roof at the sky. Personally looking at the sky is not art in my opinion however as it was created by one of the world’s most acclaimed artists, American James Turrell who am I to argue. The whole thing just went over my head! For a view of the ceiling see Link
