Holy Island Sands
Banks of higher ground covered in eel grass. Eel grass grows throughout the shallow sea and intertidal areas south and west of Holy Island and is a food stuff for overwintering brent geese. The geese spend the winter between here and Denmark before returning to the breeding grounds in Svalbard. At this time the geese were south of here beside the sea with a few thousand golden plover.
