Can't you read? It clearly says "KEEP OUT - PRIVATE PROPERTY" - the area in question being playing fields, part of the Close House Estate.
But wait - what's that waymarker to the left of the main sign? Yes - it bears the acorn logo of a National Trail - Hadrian's Wall National Trail to be precise, which turns left at that point along the side of the playing fields.
Those of nervous disposition might be deterred from following the National Trail by the intimidating nature of that adjoining notice. Someone needs to have words with the owners of Close House about the siting, size and tone of their notice.
Heddon-on-the-Wall village NZ1366 can be seen on the ridge behind.
