taken 10 years ago, near to Chapel-le-Dale, North Yorkshire, England

Solution runnel, Scales Moor
Solution runnel, Scales Moor
Some of the limestone clints on Scales Moor are enormous. The low sun of an October afternoon emphasises the delicate solution features etched by very weakly acid rainwater onto their surfaces. Ingleborough dominates across the unseen trench of Chapel-le-Dale.
