Paddling with the tide towards Rubha Hunish
Having left Staffin 45 minutes before HW Ullapool, and spent time exploring the caves and geos past Floddigarry, an unhurried lunch got us into the start of the ebb tide round the northernmost tip of Skye. There were more caves to explore here, so by the time we were approaching Rubha Hunish, the tide was running at a couple of knots in our favour (as shown by the wake that the lobster-pot buoy is trailing). With about a metre of northeasterly swell, and in shelter from the southerly wind, conditions were pretty benign for a relatively exposed spot in a tide race.
