'Passing' by Ian Patience (1983) is a triptych mosaic, expressing the passing of time through the image of a young family. The outer panels depict them on a day trip to the beach while the central panel depicts a nocturnal seascape, devoid of human activity.

Whitley Bay Metro Station

Railway station of 1910 on the Newcastle and Tynemouth Railway by William Bell for the North Eastern Railway Company. Grade II Listed. Nikolaus Pevsner later said of the building that it "lends some distinction to an undistinguished neighbourhood"
