Tornado backing on to its train
This is at the Severn Valley Railway's Kidderminster Town Station. Tornado is a 4-6-2 pacific built in Darlington and dated 2008 on the builder's plate. It is now in LNER apple green and this was the first time that I had seen this magnificent machine. It was the first new large British mainline locomotive for nearly 50 years but it won't be the last. I heard somebody saying that it could hardly be called British when the boiler was made in Poland. Well, that seems incredibly nit-picking and the boiler was made in Meiningen in Germany (former East Germany in fact).
