Remains of the Forum at Viroconium Cornoviorum (Wroxeter Roman City)
Remains of the Forum at Viroconium Cornoviorum (Wroxeter Roman City)
The remains of the forum's stone colonnade at Viroconium Cornoviorum can be found on the other side of the modern road. The forum itself is not visible but it extended from this colonnade to more than half-way across the field. The forum was the main administrative centre of the town and it also housed the town's market with stalls set up in the courtyard and the colonnades.
Viroconium Cornoviorum is looked after by English Heritage under the name "Wroxeter Roman City" the site being partly covered by the village of Wroxeter.
