Graythwaite Hall dates originally from the early 16th Century but was added to in the 18th, 19th and early 20th Centuries. It has been home to the Sandys family throughout its life. Grade II listed – see Link

The gardens, which are open to the public between April and August, were designed by Windermere landscape gardener, Thomas Mawson, in the 1890s, this being his first major commission.
The 5,000 acre Graythwaite Estate stretches from south of the Hall to north of Esthwaite Water, and includes Esthwaite Water itself, a long stretch of the western shore of Windermere, and forest and pastureland between the two.
