taken 8 years ago, near to Calcot, West Berkshire, England

Lock 102, Kennet and Avon Canal
Lock 102, Kennet and Avon Canal
Garston Lock is on the Kennet Navigation, but is numbered in sequence with the River Avon and the canal which joined them that was built much later. Its early river navigation origins are indicated by its turf sides - only the settings for the gates are brick. Two pillboxes guard the lock.
