Didler's Mill, Hoveton Marshes
Marked on the OS map as “Didler’s Mill”, but also known by other names (Dydall’s Mill, Dydler’s or Miller’s Mill). This small red brick tower mill was built ca 1850 and sits on a bend of the River Bure between Hoveton Little Broad and Salhouse Broad, on a stretch known as Dydles Reach. The mill was one of an important group of drainage mills in the Broads area and is a prominent feature in the landscape.

The mill badly damaged by fire in 1912, remaining a derelict ruin until it was converted to residential use in the late 1920s by local writer Drew Miller (Hence the name Miller’s Mill by which it was known between the 1930s and 1950s LinkExternal link ).
River Bure

The River Bure rises near Melton Constable, 11 miles upstream of Aylsham, which was the original head of navigation. Most of its length lies within the Norfolk Broads. Nowadays, the head of navigation is 10 miles downstream at Coltishall Bridge and it flows to Great Yarmouth where it meets Breydon Water and flows into the sea at Gorleston.
