'Convergence', Bede Metro Station
Colourful panels of the ten displayed on Platforms 1 and 2 at Bede Metro Station. They feature poems by writer Tom Kelly, calligraphy by former Gazette reporter Angela Reed, and local landmarks brought to life by Jarrow artist Mark Gibson, who runs Hive Art Studios at nearby Bede’s World museum. They were installed as part of the refurbishment of Hebburn, Bede and Jarrow Metro Stations in 2014.

Mr Gibson said: “I call the whole work ‘Convergence,’ because it brought together a lot of local people and because the work features such local landmarks as the Viking Statue, Josef Craig’s golden postbox and Wilkinson Court, plus the Jarrow Crusade.
“Jarrow has a fantastically rich, proud and massively influential history, which needs celebrating and remembered.”
