Hoddlesden Reservoir overflow, Waterside near Darwen
The reservoir was built to supply the nearby Vernon-Carus cotton mill where surgical dressings were manufactured. It used to employ 300 (mostly female) workers. More recently the lease to the reservoir was acquired by Darwen Loyal Angling Club who stock it with coarse fish. The overflow feeds into Waterside Brook
