Old bridge over a long-lost railway
Carrying a farm road near Cairn, this bridge spans the track-bed of the former East Fife Central Railway, known locally as 'The Lochty Line'. The track was built between Cameron Bridge and Lochty to carry coal and agricultural products. After a long, but not very profitable, life it finally closed on 1964. A short section of track at the Lochty end was preserved for a few years as a private railway heritage venture, complete with an A4 express locomotive and some rolling stock, before it too closed in 1992.
