ST3086 : Cardiff Road bridge reconstruction (7)
taken 9 years ago, near to Maes-Glas, Newport/Casnewydd, Wales
The electrification of the South Wales Mainline requires that a number of bridges in and around Newport undergo modification. One of these is the Cardiff Road Bridge which carries the B4237. This is a busy road that links Junction 28 of the M4 Motorwy with the city centre in Newport and it is planned to keep the road open to road traffic and pedestrians with traffic lights in operation and single lane traffic.
This bridge requires part-reconstruction, as one half of the bridge is currently too low to accommodate the new electrical infrastructure.
The work is scheduled to take place from October 2015 through to spring 2016, with the demolition phase over the Christmas and New Year period.
