TL4659 : Starling take-over

taken 9 years ago, near to Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England

Starling take-over
Starling take-over
The nesting boxes intended for swifts have been the subject of a take-over, largely successful, by starlings. To counter this, the openings to the nest holes have been modified by slightly reducing the height of the entrance, from 27 to 25 mm, which is thought to be too small for starlings. The outcome is awaited with interest.
