The green fir tree is a Wellingtonia Gigantica, more commonly known as a Giant Redwood. This specimen was planted in 2014 to mark the 150th anniversary of the park; initially known as The People's Park, but now known as Pearson Park after the benefactor, Zachariah Pearson.
