Kirkstall Forge entrance and Kirkstall Forge Station
A view down the entrance from Abbey Road. Some of the old Kirkstall Forge buildings remain, and the new Kirkstall Forge railway station is visible in front of the band of trees across the centre, particularly the bridge connecting the platforms. The station is due to open by Easter 2016.
Kirkstall Forge development
The site at Kirkstall Forge is being redeveloped to provide commercial and residential buildings and a new railway station. The former factory buildings were cleared several years previously, and development was delayed by the recession. The railway station has been built during 2015, and will open by Easter 2016 (having suffered several unexplained delays), and construction of the first commercial building is planned for 2016. A new access road has been built to the station from Abbey Road near the junction with Hawksworth Road.
