Grizedale Forest, Bogle Crag Trail
The large Forestry Commission area of Grizedale Forest lies between Coniston Water to the west and Windermere to the east with Esthwaite Water to the north east. Public access is excellent and there are numerous tracks and paths throughout. Looking through the trees you can often see, as here, remnants of dry stone walls, a past reminder that this was previously an upland sheep farming area. Grizedale is famous for being one of the first sculpture parks in Britain, the first commissions dating from 1977.
