Joseph Medworth (1752 to 1827) - A tomb chest in St Peter's churchyard, Wisbech
Medworth purchased Thurloe's Mansion and the grounds of Wisbech Castle in 1793 and subsequently demolished it and built the present "castle". He was also responsible for the building of The Crescent, Union Place and Ely Place which follow the line of the old castle moat and form a complete Georgian circus still standing to this day.
