"Stag Herd Roof", Grizedale Forest sculpture
Created in 1993-4 by Andy Frost and still going strong, see SD3394 : 'Stag Herd Roof', a Grizedale Forest sculpture taken 1st January 2016. (my photo 2003) During the Summer the sculpture is screened by the tree foliage, giving it a more mystical appearance.

A disused building now partially re-roofed deer emerge from the forest inquisitive and nervous. They explore and inhabit the new space, standing staggered (Stag-Herd) still and alert a futile attempt to blend into new surroundings. artist's description.

Andy Frost also created both the old and the new adventure playgrounds at the Grizedale Forest Visitor Centre.
