The Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King at Liverpool is the largest Catholic cathedral in England. Construction began in 1962 and was completed in 1967 to a design by Frederick Gibberd. Although earlier designs for a cathedral were proposed in 1853, 1933, and 1953, none were completed (Link
