The focus of the cathedral’s interior is the altar which faces the main entrance. It is made of white marble; the floor is also of marble. The bronze crucifix is by Elisabeth Frink.
The Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King, Liverpool

The Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King at Liverpool is the largest Catholic cathedral in England. Construction began in 1962 and was completed in 1967 to a design by Frederick Gibberd. Although earlier designs for a cathedral were proposed in 1853, 1933, and 1953, none were completed (LinkExternal link a brief history).

The cathedral is a Grade II* listed building (List Entry Number: 1070607 LinkExternal link Heritage Gateway).
