Waves break on the Groyne, West Wittering
Waves break on the Groyne, West Wittering
One of many groynes on West Wittering beach performs its job of breaking the waves and dispersing much of their energy before they crash into the land here. This groyne is one of the nearest to the narrowest point connecting East Head to the mainland. The green cone-topped starboard safe passage marker seen a little further out to sea marks the end point of the groyne.
