St Ambrose College (1)
St Ambrose College (1)
The scene long before the present, new school was built (as shown on the latest O/S map). These classrooms were predated by those in the adjacent private mansion 'Woodeves', which housed the college in the 1950s, and was also home to the Christian Brothers, who founded St Ambrose. Initially, the school had been established in a large house in nearby Bowdon, Altrincham, until St Vincent's Parish purchased land in Hale Barns for the College proper. Thus, it has now had four incarnations, locally, since opening in 1946.
