Shoreham-by-Sea: Kingston Lighthouse
Shoreham-by-Sea: Kingston Lighthouse
This was originally the "High" lighthouse, located to line up with the "Low" lighthouse at the southern end of the shingle tip some 200 metres to the south. Lining the two up out at sea would provide the alignment of the entrance to the River Adur and Shoreham Harbour.

The lighthouse was built in 1846. It is now a Grade II Listed Building and the English Heritage website describes it thus:-

"Lighthouse. 1846. Ashlar with wooden superstructure. Tapering tower a roll-moulded plinth dwelling in half-ovolo moulded platform above. Narrow round superstructure, surrounded by railings, with large window to south and polygonally-hipped roof topped by globe and arrow weather-vane."
