During WW2, the hardstanding seen at right was the location of a Gee ("Gee" was the code name for a radio navigation system used by the RAF during WW2) or Oboe (an aerial blind bombing targeting system based on radio transponder technology, using triangulation) semi-portable installation. An aerial view taken in 1946 shows a large shed at this location.
