In the mid-1990s, there was a bit of a hoo-ha when it was proposed to replace the old metal windows of Beacon House – with their curved glass to match the face of the walls at the corners – with new uPVC double glazing which did not match the curved surface but was angled at intervals. Nevertheless, the work went ahead.
