Littleport: opening the crossing gates
Littleport: opening the crossing gates
Nineteenth-century technology in 2016: the traditional hand-operated wooden gates at Littleport Station are closed to road traffic a minute or two before the arrival of a King's Lynn to King's Cross train. The signal box is a typical Great Eastern Railway type, painted in the green-and-cream style of the late lamented Eastern Region of British Railways. The picture was taken against the light on a brilliantly sunny morning in early March.
