The River Yare north of Colney Hall
The River Yare north of Colney Hall
The structure seen at right is situated adjacent to the remains of an old boathouse belonging to Colney Hall and marked on the first edition OS survey map for Norfolk dating from the 1880s and usually stands on dry ground on the southern bank of the River Yare. On the map sheet Norfolk LXII.SE revised in 1905 and published in 1908 its location is marked as "tank", what kind of tank it does not say. After a day of heavy rainfalls the river has burst its banks and flooded the adjacent meadows, which form part of a conservation area.
