SX8754 : Dart estuary from above Maypool

Dart estuary from above Maypool
View down the Dart estuary towards Noss, with the National Trust-owned Long Wood on the east bank, and Lord's Wood on the west bank, part of the River Farm estate. The view is taken from a permissive bridleway on the National Trust Greenway estate, leading from Greenway Road round to the carriage drive to Maypool and Greenway via South Lodge (the carriage drive runs along the top of the field just the other side of the gate, giving the first magnificent views of the estuary for visitors to Greenway). An information board is mounted on a plinth just beyond the gate.
River Dart
The River Dart rises at Lower White Tor on Dartmoor and flows generally SE to its mouth at Dartmouth. Its valley and surrounding area is an area of outstanding natural beauty. The river's mouth is an excellent example of a Ria (drowned river valley).
