The River Yare by Colney Hall
The River Yare by Colney Hall
The ivy-clad structure seen in the foreground is situated adjacent to the remains of an old boathouse > Link belonging to Colney Hall and marked on the first edition OS survey map for Norfolk dating from the 1880s. On the map sheet Norfolk LXII.SE revised in 1905 and published in 1908 its location is marked as "tank", what kind of tank it does not say. Perhaps it was a water tank for a small steam launch belonging to the Hall. For a full view of the structure see > Link and this is a wider view of the location taken when the river was in spate > Link - it usually stands on dry land beside the river.
