Toll House, Llanfair P G
To recoup some of the money that was spent building the Menai Suspension Bridge and the road from Holyhead to London there were five toll gates, each with a toll house, that were erected at approximately five mile intervals between the Bridge and Holyhead. This is the one at Llanfairpwll, still with its list of tolls in evidence.
The building next to it on the A5 was the site of the original Women's Institute.
