NZ2033 : Newfield coal and coke plant

taken 9 years ago, near to Newfield, County Durham, England

Newfield coal and coke plant
Newfield coal and coke plant
Huge mountains of coal on an industrial site below Newfield. One wonders exactly what goes on here. Is it a storage facility, a coke producing plant [are there still such things?], or even a mine still producing coal? To the casual passer-by, there's no easy answer.
