Burn disappearing under road
Burn disappearing under road
As the 1:25000 map shows, a burn approaches the road (which leads to NS4276 : Overtoun House) and is culverted at this point, as it has been since the late nineteenth century. Sometimes the drainage is overwhelmed: NS4275 : Overflowing culvert.

Although it is not clear from the map, it is the same burn that emerges again 200 metres WNW of here, at NS42387595, near an old and disused stone bridge (NS4275 : Old stone bridge near Overtoun House), and which then flows into the Overtoun Burn near a waterfall called NS4276 : Spardie Linn.
