The beach was dredged in 2006 to provide some sand to replace that which had been washed away in Aberdeen. Beyond the statue is a blue flag, awarded for a clean and unpolluted beach.
NO7257 : Statue & LighthouseNO7257 : Montrose Beach and Promenade Entitled 'The Minesweeper' by William Lamb ARSA I believe. This local man lost his right hand in battle during WWII, and then trained himself afterwards to sculpt with his left hand. He helped Montrose to its title of 'Sculpture Capital of Angus'.
