Sunderland’s War Memorial stands in Burdon Road, just outside Mowbray Park. The tall moulded plinth has laurel wreaths and upturned torches carved in low relief; and carries the inscriptions:
A TRIBUTE TO OUR GLORIOUS DEAD (west side)
1914 – 1918 (north side)
1939 – 1945 (south side).
The memorial is grade II listed (English Heritage List Entry Number: 1279917 Link

NZ3956 : Bandstand - Mowbray Park In this park there is a statue to Jack Crawford, the controversial Sunderland-born 'Hero of Camperdown', (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Crawford_(sailor) ) . There is also a headstone to his memory in Holy Trinity churchyard.
