SD6260 : View down Roeburndale towards the waterfall

taken 8 years ago, near to Salter, Lancashire, England

View down Roeburndale towards the waterfall
Taken 40 years later, this is the same view as the 1976 picture, from exactly the same viewpoint (identifiable by the two large rocks in the foreground, as well as some others on the opposite bank). Note how much vegetation has become established adjacent to the River Roeburn in the intervening decades. This is probably because the severe flash floods on the nearby Bowland rivers on 8 August 1967 scoured the banks but over time the vegetation has recovered.
