Memorial bench to Kim Traynor, Geographer
Memorial bench to Kim Traynor, Geographer
A memorial bench at the Great Polish Map of Scotland, Eddleston. Kim was a historian by profession and a prolific and knowledgeable contributor to Geograph. He joined the Mapa Scotland renovation project and unearthed much about the history of the map's construction and the links with World War II. He was also a regular at working parties here whether clearing rubble, wielding a strimmer or using a pressure washer. The three information boards around the map are based on his work.

A plaque on the bench reads:

In memory of
1950 – 2015
Mapa Scotland Historian
“History isn't about dates and places and wars; it's about the people who fill
the spaces in between them.” Kim was one of those people.
