Probably of cast iron, this old strainer post has possibly been here since this section of the Elgin to Portsoy section of the GNSR opened in 1884. This style of post can be seen on various parts of closed railway lines in the North of Scotland. Showing remarkably little signs of rust, it carries the makerís name of Jas Abernethy & Coy, Aberdeen.
